Designs remain secret until July 22, 2010 Gala Event

Heads Up Alabama has commissioned the 20 Alabama artists to produce three foot high head sculptures to brings awareness of the connection between mental and physical health though art.. Designs by artists, kept secret until July 22, 10, are destine to travel parts of Alabama following their stay at the Downtown Birmingham Public Library. Each artist in their own style exhibits different aspects to the mind body connection. After the sculptures three week display at the Birmingham Library they will move to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and travels on from there.

Project "Heads Up Alabama" is presented by Alabama Psychological Association Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

A Gala Event opens at the Downtown Birmingham Public Library: July 22, 2010.

Reading Chairs included in "ALIAS: ESTABLISHED & EMERGING ARTISTS"

LiteBox Gallery will hold an opening reception for the show ALIAS, curated by Lisa Michitti, Friday, May 14 from 5-9pm. The show’s premise is that contemporary artists in various mediums can be identified by their artwork in addition to, and often instead of, their physical appearance. The artists exhibiting in the show share the commonality of a strong personal style and a striving for excellent craftsmanship. On view are paintings, sculpture, book arts, printmaking, and photography as well as installation art.

Lisa Michitti now an Alabama artist, originally from Nashville, TN, teaches at the University of Montevallo.

Meridian Museum of Art 19th Annual People’s Choice Exhibition

"Divine Friends Series", are mixed media paintings celebrating the Divine development of "Love" occurring when two people truly become friends. Images show each person wearing a halo, overlapping with the other’s. Through thick and thin, there is always Divine Friends.
